Midlands Regional Second Section Champions

Triumph in the second section of the Midlands Area Contests, held at the Civic Hall in Bedworth, has brought big smiles to all at Shirland.

After relegation from the first section in 2008, the band came back fighting with a champion performance of ‘New World Sketches under the baton of Andrew Dennis for which there was not a bad word to be said by anyone including the adjudicators.

There was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the band as celebrations continued late into the day. The trophy and banner now take pride of place in the band room with the rest of the collection.

The band now find themselves with a promotion to the first section in January 2010 and look forward to many contests to come.
